Charley Harper QAL- Polar Bear Quilt

Well here it is...

Finally...

Max's Polar Bear Quilt.

Thanks to the Charley Harper Quilt Along!

It was awhile ago that I started this, so I'm a little delayed in getting this up here, but I'm happy with how it turned out, and I think it will be a good snuggling size quilt : )

A New Chapter Begins...

Today my husband loaded up the jeep with two backpacking bags, a pillow, and an assortment of work clothes.  He's moving to Seattle.  He got an internship at a firm downtown Seattle, and is starting work tomorrow.  I'm so very  proud of him, he's so brave to go off and do this for his family, in a place he knows nothing of and working with people he doesn't know.  I unfortunately have to wait two whole weeks until I get to see him again, which sucks...a lot... He has a house viewing appointment tomorrow evening just north of Bainbridge Island, so hopefully all goes well, and they accept our application.  If it does work out, I'll go up there Labor Day weekend and help move as much stuff as possible.

But in the meantime, I'm getting the house packed, and when my ever expanding body gets too tired to do that, then I sit down and sew or knit.  I'm working on my Charley Harper QAL quilt, so that's giving me a nice break.  I started it over a year ago, and did basically nothing to it since then.  It's a very easy quilt so I'm not sure why it was ever moved before finishing, but oh well.  As soon as I finish it, I'm sending it up to Seattle for my husband to have while he is away.  Hopefully that can be a small comfort for him.  I'll get some progress pictures up soon!

Yard Work, Dishes, Laundry...FINALLY SEWING

So I have found that I have a to do list as long as I am tall, and each night I try to tackle what I can off it...Oh my word, being pregnant does not help that list get smaller at any record breaking pace.  I keep telling myself, "if I just finish this, then I can go sit down and reward myself with some sewing time!"  And that's how I get through my tasks.  However, by the time I finish, I am usually so exhausted, and my back hurts so bad, that all I want to do is take a bath and get in bed.  It makes me sad : ( so then I sit in the bath, or in bed and troll Pinterest or Instagram for fun ideas.  The nice thing is that I follow some pretty talented people, so I am easily inspired, hence the 400 stacks of quilt piles that I'm wanting to sew! So tonight I'm going to finish packing up the living room stuff that can go into storage, and then I'm going to sit down and finish a HST quilt top that has been sitting on the shelf for at least 8 months.   We'll see tomorrow if I actually do this!  Hopefully there is good news and few pictures to report.  Unfortunately though, since I'm so new to quilting and not so OCD, there are a lot of corners that don't line up!  Don't look to close : )

ITS A GIRL!

Found on Pinterest with no back link : /

Well as of a few weeks ago, after my best friend scanned my tummy, she gave us the happy news that it's a girl!  Needles to say we are excited, Max is a little beyond excited I guess I should say : )  My official anatomy scan is next Tuesday, so I guess hopefully we get the news that it's still a girl, minor detail.

I'll be 20 weeks tomorrow, half way there, I am beyond thrilled about that, it has gone really well so far, I don't have to many complaints, however  I'm sure I could find something to complain about in the next few months, like the heat, or swelling ankles...eh, kankles, looking forward to those!

I really think the Little Monster theme would be adorable!

Modern Quilting... My secret obsession...that's not so secret

So for the past three years or so I have been utterly obsessed with modern quilting, and you will see a lot of that on this blog.  I just can't help it, I love to knit too, so I'm really like a young grandma.   However, most of the people I know into quilting and knitting, are my age.  So its a new generation of grandmas!

Check out my all time favorite quilting blog... Film in the Fridge.  Ashley does an amazing job putting together quilts, and I get a ton of inspiration from her!  Here are a few of my favorite quilts pieced by her.

I actually made one similar to this one above.  It was the first quilt that I ever started AND finished!  Unfortunately I should have allowed for a bigger seam allowance, since now its forming tiny holes(when I say tiny, I mean big) everywhere.   Oh well, its been well used!

Can't Wait Until Friday!

So tomorrow, after Max gets out of his studio that lasts way to long in my opinion, we are driving south to Grants Pass, OR.  To visit my bestest friend in the whole world, who also happens to be an ultrasound tech :)  She is going to do my 15 week ultrasound, and hopefully we'll be able to see if its a boy or not.  I know its still a little early, but I'm thinking if its a boy, we should be able to tell!   So just another 33 hours, and we get to see the little one!  Plus it's been to long since I've seen my bestie and her little man, who is already 13 months!!  I think she should have another baby ; )

12 Weeks!

I have made it to the end of my 12th week!  I'm very excited, I'm starting to get more energy, which is nice, and I can't complain... So far I haven't had any morning sickness or nausea.  So things could have been worse : )  My only real symptoms were exhaustion, and head aches for the last two weeks.  So I'm hoping that entering into my second trimester, the headaches and sleepiness wear off!

Max has been great, I keep sending him on random missions to the grocery store, last night I was dying for some pasta salad.  He went to the store, bought everything we needed, and then came home and made it for me at 10:00 at night.  What a trooper!  All while he works on finishing his architecture portfolio.

Week 12 Stats:

Size of baby: Plum, 1/2oz.
Weight gain: -3
Symptoms this week: Headaches
Cravings: Pasta salad!
Aversions: All Mexican food : (
Pregnancy scares: 1, Lucy stepped on me while I was laying on the couch and bruised the side of my          stomach.
Hours of sleep: Roughly a million
Mood Swings: I say "2", Max says "3"
Baby checklist: Finished registering at Target, and on Amazon (you're welcome mom!)

Welcome

My name is Bethany, welcome to my creative space!  I'm married to a most wonderful human being named Max, and we live in Eugene, OR.  I've found lately that I would like a creative outlet, so here is where I'm going to document it : )

A little about us... we are both 24 years young, and about to embark on a crazy new adventure I like to call, "the real world."  Max is graduating this summer with a bachelors in Architecture, and after that momentousness occasion happens, we will be moving to wherever the little lad can find a job.  Currently we are are looking at Portland, OR., Juneau, AK, and Redlands, CA.  I think at this point, I just don't care : )

We have been married for four years this June, and will have been together for almost 10, crazy how time goes racing by!  Also in addition to Max graduating and us uprooting from where I have lived my entire life, we have a little bundle of joy joining us in October!  So this year sure is one for memories...and ice cream, lots of ice cream...and green olives (Cravings, what can you do!?)

On this blog, you will find lots of random posts, things from quilting, to knitting, to cooking, to gardening, to rookie parenting!  I'm probably best described as a farm girl at heart (hence my two Scottish Highland cows, whom I love), and some one very excited to transition to being a stay at home mom(a mom! its still so weird to say)!  Thanks for stopping by!
